We will been contacting our many loyal supporters of our 2016, 2015 and 2014 events over the next few weeks and, as part of our commitment to reach out to as many of our local community, Statewide and Nationwide, we will also have the pleasure of announcing local radio interviews to be held with Prof. S. Caroline Taylor AM prior to the event! These interviews will be presented by our fabulous supporters at ABC Radio 107.9FM, and additionally, at 3BA/Power FM (102.3FM and 103.1FM respectively)!

Don’t Tell – The Movie, Wins Best Feature Film!

Don’t Tell won the Audience Award for “Best Feature Film” at the
Newport Beach Film Festival!!
Up against over 300 films at the festival Don’t Tell proved to be a universal story that is as relevant in the US as it is here in Australia.
The feedback from the premiere was clear, this story needs to be told
and shared as wide as possible.
The Children Of Phoenix Foundation is proud to announce we have been selected as a Charity Partner that has been afforded the honour of hosting special screening events of the upcoming film, Don’t Tell which releases in cinemas nationally on May 18th 2017!
The film starring Jack Thompson, Rachel Griffiths, Aden Young, Sara West, Jacqueline McKenzie, Gyton Grantley, Susie Porter, Martin Sacks, Robert Taylor and Sara West, tells the story of a young woman who fought back after enduring sexual abuse at a prestigious private school.

Scholarships for 2017 are Now Closed
Children of Phoenix Scholarship applications are open to survivors of childhood sexual assault who are ready to continue or further their education. Applicants need to demonstrate how their education was disrupted as a consequence of childhood abuse to help the Scholarship Committee assess applications. Children of Phoenix scholarships are provided for primary school, high school, university and also vocational/adult community education levels.

Cup Cake Morning Tea Fundraiser 2015
Children of Phoenix Organisation invites you to please help us by hosting a cup cake morning tea fundraiser on Wednesday, September 9th to coincide with Child Protection Week, September 6 -12 2015.
Cup Cakes cost $5 each and are individually hand-made and iced and Children of Phoenix volunteers will deliver them to your work place OR host a morning tea with your own cup-cakes and raise funds for a great cause. Every dollar raised goes towards funding our scholarship programs.
Personal Development Workshops
Children of Phoenix are delighted to be providing Personal Development Workshops for Catholic Education Staff aligned with Victorian Teaching Standards in regards to sexual abuse. To compliment these professional workshops for Education Staff, Children of Phoenix will provide community awareness workshops for the Ballarat community. Specifically to demystify community perceptions of child sexual abuse in terms of its prevalence and the context where most abuse occurs and making the community feel more confident and empowered to respond to victims and be proactive about the issue of child sexual abuse in our community.
Community Engagement
Children of Phoenix is actively involved in creating community awareness of issues concerning child sexual abuse and its impact on victims. Professor Caroline Taylor AM will lead a community gathering at St Patrick’s Cathedral Hall, Ballarat on Wednesday 2 April at 7.00pm.

Roteract Movie Night
Children of Phoenix has been selected as a local charity of choice by the Ballarat Roteracts for 2014 for support. To kick the year off early a movie night was held on Thursday 19th December by Roteract. Children of Phoenix are looking forward to an ongoing partnership of support with Roteract throughout 2014.
Reclaiming our City Awareness Walk around Lake Wendouree Friday 6th September 2013
Reclaiming our community Awareness Walk around Lake Wendouree Friday 6th September 2013 was a hugely successful event in raising the awareness of sexual abuse. The walk involved approximately 200 people including local school children, general community, local service providers, Police and survivors of Clergy sexual abuse in Ballarat.
It was evident that the Awareness walk needs to become a regular event to remember the victims of sexual abuse who have lost their lost lives as a result of their trauma. It is hoped that during Child Protection Week the Reclaiming our City Awareness can become and inaugural event in Ballarat.
Training Seminar Monday 2nd September 2013
The Training seminar was attended by 40 professionals based in Ballarat, Melton and Bacchus Marsh within the education sector, nursing, counselling and welfare areas. The feedback received on the day of training reinforced the demand for best practice evidence based training and the urgent need within the Ballarat area.

The walk will include local school children, general community, local service providers and survivors of abuse. There is no way of forgetting what happened to children in Ballarat. But we as a community have a responsibility to protect our children from abuse into the future and ensure Ballarat’s past is never repeated. We as a community have a responsibility to protect children from abuse. The Awareness walk coincides with Child Protection Week 1st-7th September 2013.
Children of Phoenix in a symbolic reclaiming of our city from the abuse will invite, school children, survivors, community members and professionals to write positive affirmations on ribbons.
